Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Has Expressed Bangladesh's Abiding Commitment To Commonwealth's Fundamental Values And Principles Such As Promotion Of Democracy, Rule Of Law, Gender Equity And Freedom Of Expression. She Said This When Visiting Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma Called On Her At Her Office Yesterday. The Pm Thanked Sharma For His Sincere Cooperation In Successful Holding Of The 10th Cwamm In Dhaka On Time. She Said "bangladesh Is Happy To Host This Meeting As The Country Is Regarded As A Champion Of Women's Empowerment In The Developing World''. She Highlighted Her Government's Steps Taken For Strengthening Democracy, Containing Terrorism And Militancy, Establishing Human Rights And Rule Of Law In Bangladesh. He Appreciated All These Successes And Assured Support To Bangladesh.

The Executive Committee Of The National Economic Council (ecnec) Yesterday Approved The “upazila Level Optical Fibre Cable Network Development Project” Under Which Information And Communication Technology Will Be Provided To 290 Out Of The 486 Upazilas In The Country. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Presided Over The Ecnec Meeting At The National Economic Council Conference Room In The Capital. The Ecnec Also Okayed Six Other Projects Involving Tk 387 Crore.

New Turkish Ambassador To Bangladesh Huseyin Muftuoglu Made A Courtesy Call On The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She Assured Him Of Giving All-out Cooperation In Discharging Duties During His Stay In Bangladesh. They Discussed The Rohingya Issue, With Other Issues Relating To Bilateral Trade, Investment And Cultural Exchange. They Stressed The Need For Peaceful Settlement Of The Rohingya Issue.
